His moniker mischievously named after a wrestling move, a highly impressive, independently-created experimental, psychedelic rock debut the the Toronto-based multi-instrumentalist and singer-songwriter Adam LaFramboise. A variety of influences are audible, from Elliott Smith to Nirvana, Nine Inch Nails to Radiohead, but whose deftly played guitar riffs, sounds and effects, piano, saxophone, synths and other instruments interweave over nicely created drum machine tracks. His voice has that high tenor, breathy Smith vulnerability, but its the dynamism and inventiveness of sounds that impress the most. It’s a snappy album of just eight tracks across 30 minutes, but standouts include thrumming Radiohead-ish title track opener, the piano and more delicate sounds of Drug Of Choice, the shoegazey Whoever You Are …, and psychedelic closer Truest Sound.
