Wonderfully weird, wonky, woozy, avant-garde, absurdist oddness by the French duo of Laurène Exposito and Théo Delaunay, with their lo-fi, ramshackle, DIY postpunk and retro-electronica, sharing sung and spoken vocals across French, German, English and Spanish. From the droll, clunking organ of Tie Game to the frenetic postpunk leaps of Acolytes, Nana Niña’s gentle bossa nova beat and wobbly keyboards, the drunken stumbling of Le Rayon Orchidée, Cherry Ann’s limping drumbeat and half-spoken crooning, the croaking frogs and downbeat guitar and drum of the woozy Hills of Love, the title track’s knife-sharpening sounds and gentle rolling balls and clankings, the mysterious drum brushes and ambience of Moderato Cambile and beyond, it’s a gentle adventure ointo into the charming, humorous and bizarre. Out on Knekelhuis.
