Mixing beauty and dissonance, clever, skilfully textured angular guitars and vocals to a mesmeric, bendy, woozy, dream-like effect by the Copenhagen art-rock trio, the second single from their upcoming album Pure, out on 26 September via Happy Metal Records. The track was inspired by the self-made improvisation game the band created using UNO cards, where each card dictates a player’s musical behaviour (red = chaos, green = restraint, action cards flip the rules etc), an alternative form of Brian Eno’s Oblique Strategies mixed with the spirit of the musical theatre of chance. The chorus was pulled directly from the first take of that session: instinctive, raw, and oddly emotive. An experimental approach with a sound to interest fans of fans of Lightning Bolt, Hella, or My Bloody Valentine. The band are: Mads Bertelsen (vocals/bass), Simon Hiemstra (guitar), and Anders Poulsen (drums). To explore and enjoy more by Poptones, see also the other embedded links below.
