With her first new music since the 2022 LP Natural Brown Prom Queen, the LA-based American experimental violinist, singer, and songwriter Brittney Denise Parks’ new single is written as an exploration of orchestral Black dance music and the parts of ourselves that are more human than machine, and vice versa. With her characteristic and unique playing style, loops, effects and a dance beat, in the video she sings to a tropical fish in a tank, dances between flashing lamps, and is approached by a robotic arm. Tell me, can you tell me where my body goes?
I don't wanna step on anybody's toes
I cannot fit in this brand new, fit these clothes
And these matching gloves, what are the point of those?
Tell me have you seen her? I just have to know
Hair is red like fire and she's beautiful
I need to speak to her on the telephone
Phone, phone
Where my old self at? (Right here, right hеre)
Where my nеw self at? (Right here, right here)
Where my light side at? (Right here, right here)
Where my dark side at? (Right here, right here)
Hello, it's me
Did you miss me?
Just take this piece
The best of me
Hello, it's me
Did you miss me?
Just take this piece
The best of me
Hello, it's me
Did you miss me?
Just take this piece
The best of me
Hello, it's me
Did you miss me?
Just take this piece
The best of me
