A third album by the New York indie-rock band fronted by Will Anderson, with rich, meaty, shoegaze fuzz guitars, subtly droll love songs and more of a live band guitar recorded sound rather than the previous studio-created layering of their first two LPs. There’s still a classic tremolo woozy bend to their sound, very much influenced by the likes of My Bloody Valentine, as well as Dinosaur Jr (the final here track echoes a classic 1993 album title), and with a dash of Teenage Fanclub. Standouts include opener Was I Wrong? (“Was I wrong / Or did you sing my song?/ You hummed along/ But you're already gone”), Julia’s War, The Scene, the less sonically opaque Break Right, and the almost acoustic fresh, airy Lawnmower. Out on Third Man Records.
