A gentle, clean sounding, krautrock-ish Can-like new single by the Cambridge, UK band with a double-edged theme “about the men we're conditioned to respect and follow and the people who inspire us to think differently”. It heralds their forthcoming new album, The Heat Warps, out on 29 August via Bella Union. The band’s Jack Cooper adds: “It's as much about Pharoah Sanders as it is about the kings and politicians we're meant to believe in. It’s difficult to stay aware of the world around you without becoming despondent. Pharaoh makes the case for finding a personal philosophy and trying to live a life that might inspire others, or at the very least not hurt them.” Another hero of the band, and an influence is Andrew Weatherall, including “His motto ‘Fail we may, sail we must’.”
The band are songwriter Jack Cooper, Jim Wallis (drums), Jeff Tobias (bass guitar) and now new guitarist – Tara Cunningham. To explore and enjoy more by Modern Nature, see also the other embedded links below.
