“If your name's on the list, just say you saw nothing.” Taking a punchy shot at the sinister, dark underbelly of global elites and backdoor dealings of notorious super-wealthy inner circles who prey on the young and innocent, a fabulously feisty new single by the Brighton British punk duo of Phoebe Lunny and Selin Macieira, out on City Slang.
The band add: “The age old tale, of selling your soul to the devil has been fabled accounts of high society for years. However due to recent events come to light – it turns out that the elite are very much actually, the devil incarnate, baby eating, pedos. What a fucking surprise! They had no souls to sell in the first place.”
They also quote the Italian Marxist philosopher, linguist and politician who was an open opponent of fascism and Mussolini: “The old world is dying and the new world struggles to be born: now is the time of monsters.”
The single is also accompanied by a video directed by London-based film-maker and director Harv Frost (The Last Dinner Party, Laufey).
Welcome to the cult of celebrity
We'll drain the life from your eyes to make you perfect
Europe, Paris, Monaco, all the money in the world
Oh, how the other half live
The devil's on your shoulder with one hell of an offer
Don't you wanna see how the other half live?
Give me love, give me fame, play God, kiss of death
The devil's on your shoulder with one hell of a deal
Takе it!
Welcome to the cult of cеlebrity
Sell your soul for a million-dollar smile
LA, Berlin, Tokyo, gold, silver, diamond, pearls
Don't end up like those other girls, defiled
Welcome to the one-percent
Please ignore the young women who disappear with Harvey
At his famous dinner parties
Hollywood Boulevard, jumbo jets, secret clubs
They can be young as you want, just don't get caught
The devil's on your shoulder with one hell of an offer
Don't you wanna see how the other half live?
Give me love, give me fame, play God, kiss of death
The devil's on your shoulder with one hell of a deal
Take it! (Oh!)
Oh, how the other half live behind their blood-red curtain
Kill all your friends, I wanna be famous
How the other half live on Lolita Island
If your name's on the list, just say you saw nothing
