A stylish, eclectic, cross-genre single from the late, great, legendary Jamaican producer and performer’s ongoing legacy, heralding his last official album - the project in Berlin with electronic pioneers Mouse on Mars (aka Jan St. Werner and Andi Toma) and the LP - Spatial, No Problem on on 5 June via Domino Records. The lead single Rockcurry captures Perry’s time in Berlin, drawn into the soundworld of his so-called “German Professors” in their “German laboratory”, taking to the group’s blend of motorik rhythmic elements with free improvisation, digital glitches, dada poetry and the dubby “voodoo” he with haunted their machines.
London’s Barbican will host the Project A Black Planet exhibition this summer. The Pit will be transformed into a specially commissioned immersive environment that will explore Spatial, No Problem from 5-13 June. This world-exclusive installation will present the album in spatial audio on a specially installed D&B Soundscape soundsystem alongside in-person events which foreground how the music became a resonant medium for Black consciousness, cultural resistance, and the expression of a shared African heritage across the diaspora. More details here and further info to be announced.
