A dark, esoteric, mysterious and stylish title track with a hint of Radiohead and playing with the idea of knowing your future death, from the experimental indie/goth/ambient London artist Jacob Allen’s forthcoming album out on 6 February via Play It Again Sam. The song was recorded at Peter Gabriel’s Real World studios. Allen explains that “Croak Dream is about someone I have dreamt of for years. Nightmares really, I just have not been able to shake them yet. I thought maybe what I needed was a sort of exorcism, so I wrote this song unpacking this strange bond that has haunted me, and then put it to bed, or death, at the end. It is a laying of a ghost to rest, I hope.” To explore and enjoy more by Puma Blue, see also the other embedded links below.
Big man, small heart
We were destined from the start
Like swirling circles
Still the scent of purple
Shared beds, shared truths
From my throat to none before you
Ever trusting in those eyes that lusted, taboo
I don't want to blame you
I would never pain you
But how could you do this to me?
Run a spear right through me?
Still have dreams about you
Still as blue without you
But lest I feed the ego
I won't ever tell you
I was your brother, more than a friend
Gave you as much as I had to spend, I hate you
More than I have learned to wish to
I pray that you wake
To everything you dreamt someday
You don't regret, fear no mistake
Happy with what you threw away
I don't want to blame you
I would never pain you
But how could you do this to me?
Run a spear right through me?
Still have dreams about you
Still as blue without you
But lest I feed the ego
I won't ever tell you
This is the death of whatever it was!
This is the death of your hold over us!
This is the death! This is the death!
I must wake up, I am choking to death!
This is the death of whatever it was
This is the death of your hold over us
This is the death, this is the death
This is the death, this is the death
This is the death, this is the death
This is the death, this is the death
