A stirring, evocative song of defiance and resistance to the repression of northern Mali people by the acclaimed Saharan rock band, from their upcoming sixth album, Assikel, out on 15 May via Glitterbeat Records. Recorded on analogue tape, with the band playing live and direct, this track opens with an eerie synth line by guest Belgian musician Wouter Van Asselbergh, before an onslaught of desert blues distorted guitars and mesmeric percussion.
Tamikrest are: Ousmane Ag Mossa: lead vocals, electric & acoustic guitar; Cheikh Ag Tiglia: bass, backing vocals, acoustic guitar, djembe, percussion; Paul Salvagnac: electric guitar, lapsteel, dobro, tumba tumba; and Cédric Momo Maurel: calabash, dhol, bendhir, tumba tumba, djembe, tube.
