Energising, wriggly, effervescent dance music with a Panjabi twist by the East Midlands DJ and producer, taken from his debut EP Bloom, which also draws on his heritage folk traditions and Indian classical rhythms, and out on 1 July via his own label EKTA. Situationz pays tribute to legendary Panjabi artist Sukshinder Shinda through the driving “Shinda Break”, recontextualising a rhythm instantly recognisable to generations of listeners into a high-energy club track.
The EP was finalised while touring Panjab during Basant, the festival celebrating the arrival of spring, Bloom became both a personal and artistic statement: the first release on a label intended not to represent one culture alone, but to create space for many. As Singh explains:
“EKTA as a name really sums up what I love about music and arts in general: unity and oneness. I want the label to be a sonic universe where artists bring their specific heritage into a modern club framework. It's about merging diverse folk traditions to treat these sounds not as relics, but as the future of dance music.”
