Fresh, energised, guitar-driven 60s-style retro garage-rock-pop fun from the young Melbourne four-piece taken from their the new EP, More, out on 13 May. The band are: Jay Millar - guitars / vocals / percussion / keys, Ned Capp - guitar / vocals, Olly Katsianis - bass / vocals, and Ethan Robins - drums. Millar explains: “Magic Man is about this old man who lives next door to me who I’ve always known as The Wizard because I never knew his real name. However in the music video, the Magic Man is played by our friend Stu Anderson, who owns Singing Bird Studios in Frankston where we recorded the EP. He’s a legend of the local scene. We dragged him out to The You Yangs mountain ranges to shoot the clip, and he was coming off of a massive bender at the time. It was the perfect vibe, he smashed it.”
The band’s eponymous LP was released last year on Dog Meat Records. To explore and enjoy more by The Gnomes, see also the other embedded links below.
He was a dirty man (dirty man)
Like a little boy sat in the shade
He was a nasty man (nasty man)
Pickled like someone who is ungraved
And no one knows where he is going
Skipping down the street and loosing time
And he don’t care about the world (he don’t care)
All he ever knew was how to lie
He was a selfish man (selfish man)
His father taught him things unwise
He was a magic man
His mother looked him in the eye
Said no one knows where you are going
Skipping down the street and loosing time
But he don’t care about the world (he don’t care)
All he ever knew was how to lie
You know some day, You know some how
I’ll catch this man, I don’t know how
And when I do, I’ll run at pace
And when I do I’ll grab his face
He was a
He was a magic man (magic man, magic man)
Magic man (magic man, magic man)
He was a magic man (magic man, magic man)
Magic man (magic man, magic man)
